Thomas Kutschker

About the artist

Thomas Kutschker, born in Mannheim in 1963, trained as a photographer at the well known Lette-Verein in Berlin and studied film and media at the Media Arts School (KHM) in Cologne. He has been making documentary films and art videos since 1988. In 1998 he received the first prize of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia in the category Young Directors and DoPs, and in 1999 and 2000 was awarded artists’ grants from the same source. His full-length film “The Vanishing Border/Die Verschwundene Grenze” was awarded first prize for best film at the Asolo Art Film Festival in 2001. From 2000 – 2005 he lectured at the Humboldt University, and from 2005 – 2011 taught at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Since 2006 he has been teaching at the University of the Arts, Berlin.
